The All New Mother’s Bistro & Bar in Downtown Portland
For those of you who didn’t know, this past weekend, Mother’s opened it’s new location in downtown Portland.
Opened back in 2000, Mother’s has grown from a 90-seat restaurant into a gorgeous space at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown. With all of mother’s original touches, the new space will be able to seat more guests and share the love of mother’s dishes for all local and new lovers of brunch.
My friend and I attended the press/family and friends preview to experience their menu like we never have before. I ordered the Bloody Mary which came with the option of chilled bacon for $9 + $1.50 for the bacon. My friend ordered a classic mimosa which came in a small or large option at $8 for the large.
For the entrees, we wanted to try something a little sweet, and a little savory. We ordered the Wild Salmon Hash, Classic Eggs Benedict and a Belgian Waffle with whipped cream and bananas.
My favorite was hands down the hash. It was the perfect mix of creamy, eggs and potatoes and a great sized portion. It comes with a side of butter and toast.
The Belgian waffle was nice and fluffy with some of the yummiest whipped cream I’ve had on a waffle. It’s ALL about the texture.
Lastly, the Eggs Benedict, a classic go-to for me was just as expected. I honestly think what separates a Benedict at each place are not only the toppings but also the hollandaise sauce. It could make or break it. It wasn’t my absolute favorite but it’s also an easy go to if you don’t know what to chose. I can ALWAYS go for a Benedict.
Overall, I had a wonderful experience tasting all Mother’s has to offer. Personally for me, I’ve been looking for a staple that I can go back to whenever I’m not sure where to go eat breakfast or brunch. I think I’ve found that at Mother’s. It’s a classic breakfast that never goes out of style and you always know what to expect.
The new Mother’s Bistro is located at 121 SW Third Avenue (at the Embassy Suites by Hilton Downtown. Open 7 days a week, 365 days a year.
